Any video you see on YouTube has a description that is placed under the channel username. And it is use for adding more information about the video topic, references, purpose it was made, link to related materials, add credit, ads, etc.

How to add link on YouTube video description using mobile app

Step 1

Using your mobile device go straight and open the YouTube app. On the bottom of the YouTube app window click “library”.

Step 2

Now click on your videos. You should be able to see the video you want to add description to on your videos list. Click the edit or click the triple dots at the right side of the video and select edit.

Step 3

The edit page will appear where you would be able to edit your video’s details including the description click the description.

Step 4

A page where you will add description to your video will show up. Add your description.

Now copy and paste the URL link on the desired place in the description.


Step 5

Click “save” to save your description.

YouTube should make the URL text in to a link automatically.

Wait for sometime and go to YouTube to click the video’s description to see your new development on how to add link on YouTube video using mobile app.

How to add link on YouTube video description using desktop

Step 1:upload the video to YouTube

Step 2:go to YouTube studio

  1. If you have the YouTube studio app on your desktop you can simply open it but if you don’t have it.
  2. Go to the main YouTube app. Click on your profile picture at the top right side in the page. A menu will open select YouTube studio.

In the left sidebar of the YouTube studio click “videos”

Step 3:select the video you want to edit

In the YouTube studio the list of your videos will open click edit or click the triple dots on the video you want to add the link and select “edit” or click the title of the video to go to it’s details. Now you should be able to edit the video details.

Step 4:copy and paste the URL link on the description

Click on the description. Copy and paste the URL link in the description box.

Step 5:save your changes

Now click “save” to save your changes.

YouTube should make the URL text in to a link automatically.

Wait for sometime and go to YouTube to click the video’s description to see your new development on how to add link on YouTube video using desktop.
