Mega description: how to use mega description on your blog posts

What is a mega description

Mega description is a page description displayed under the page title in a search engine result page. It is the brief page summary that is highlighted under your page title in the search engine’s organic search results. See the example below

What is the importance of mega description

Mega descriptions are certainly informative, introductory and call to action (CTA). Two things can make someone click your page (title and mega description) from the different alternative pages. That means your mega descriptions can speak well when it comes to clicks.

Writing a good title accompanied by clickable mega description is necessary for getting clicks from search results. When your page is ranking well but not getting the desired clicks check your mega description.

Therefore mega description gives a brief summary for your intended audience, telling them what to expect from your page. When it attract their attention then they are likely to click your page but when it falls to do so you are loosing clicks already. Update your mega description.

How do I know if my mega description and page title are doing well?

This is what to do if you want to check the effectiveness of your title and mega description on the search engine organic search results.

Go to your Google search console dashboard and click on “performance” from the left menu.

In the performance page add your page to see it’s search engine organic search performance. Now in this performance report you should be able to know if your title and mega description is getting the right clicks.

By comparing the search “impressions” and the “clicks” plus the “click through rate”.

Your impressions tell how many times your page is listed on search results and your clicks tell how many times your page get clicks from those search results (impressions) and your click through rate (CTR) calculates how many times your page get clicks divided by how many times you get listed on SERPs [CTR=clicks divided by Impressions].

If your impressions are high and your clicks are low that means there is a problem with your mega description and title or any of the two.

  • What topics do you have a unique perspective or expertise in?

You can also analyze their content to see what topics are most popular among their readers. Look for gaps in their content that you can fill with your own unique perspective and ideas.

By analyzing your competitors, you can find out what works and what doesn’t in your niche, and tailor your blog accordingly.

3. Evaluating Profitability

When choosing a blogging niche, it’s important to consider the potential for profitability.

While you may be passionate about a particular topic, it’s also important to ensure that it has the potential to generate income. Here are some factors to consider when evaluating the profitability of a niche.

1. Monetization Methods

Before committing to a niche, it’s important to consider the various ways in which you can monetize your blog. Some common methods include:

  • Advertising: Displaying ads on your blog can generate revenue based on impressions or clicks.

Always start your comments by greeting the author and mentioning them by names. A friendly and personalised greeting helps create a good connection and shows that you have taken the time to read and engage with their content.

Step 3 Make A Comment About The Author

Express your appreciation for the author’s work by offering a sincere compliment. Highlight specific aspects of their post that resonated with you or provided valuable insights. Keep the compliments concise and genuine to avoid sounding insincere or excessive.

Step 4 Add To The Discusion

The core of your blog comment lies in providing added value to the discussion. You can achieve this by employing various tactics like, engaging the author by asking thoughtful and relevant questions related to the post.

This demonstrates your genuine interest in the topic and encourages further conversation. Thoughtful questions can spark meaningful discussions and establish you as an engaged and knowledgeable commentaor.

Secondly, you can share your personal insights or experiences that relate to the post. This allows the author and other readers to connect with you on a deeper level and adds a unique perspective to the discussion. By sharing your personal insights, you demonstrate your expertise and provide valuable context to the topic at hand.

You can also use the comments to expand on the author’s points or offer additional insights that contribute to the overall discussion. This shows that you have a deep understanding of the topic and can provide valuable information to fellow readers.

By adding to the discussion, you establish yourself as a knowledgeable commentator and increase the overall value of the conversation.

Lastly, if you have successfully implemented a strategy or tip mentioned in the post and achieved positive results, share your success story.

Providingproof of concept not only validates the author’s advice but also serves as a testimonial that can be valuable to the author and other readers.

Step 5 Use conclusion

Conclude your comment by expressing your intention to continue supporting the author. Promise to link to their content, follow them on social media, or engage with their future articles.

By making this commitment, you show your genuine interest in their work and leave a lasting impression.

Common Mistakes to Avoid On Blog Commenting

Now that you know how to do blog commenting the right way, there are also several common mistakes that you should avoid to ensure the success of your efforts:

1. Using Wrong or Inconsistent Profile Information

Your comment profile information should be true and consistent. For instance:
Using a real photo of yourself as your display image is crucial for building trust and credibility. Avoid using letter or emogi images or no image at all, as it may come across as unprofessional and not trust worthy.

Also, always use your real name when commenting on blogs. Using a false name or nickname can create confusion and hinder your ability and chances of building genuine connection with other bloggers.

Another thing is to ensure that the email address you provide when leaving a comment is valid and active. This allows the author to respond to your comment or reach out to you if needed.

2. Failing to Read the Post Before Commenting

Take the time to thoroughly read the blog post before leaving a comment. This ensures that your comment is relevant and adds value to the discussion.

Avoid making comments that simply repeat what the post already said. So make sure you read the post and come up with something interesting to comment about.

3. Leaving Comments That Makes No Sense or Doesn’t Add To The Discusion

Avoid leaving generic or superficial comments such as “Great post!” or “Nice job!” These types of comments add no value to the discussion and may be seen as spam.

Instead why not say what makes the post greate or nice in few simple words? That proved that you have really read the post and find helpful.

Add your own opinion to the discussion by providing more tips, strategies, or give your experience or understanding about the topic.

Keep your comments concise and to the point. Avoid rambling or going off on tangents that are unrelated to the post. Respect the author’s time and keep your comment focused and relevant.

4. Using Comments for Link Building

Blog commenting should not be solely used for link building purposes. While some blogs use no-follow links, the primary goal of blog commenting should be to establish relationships and provide value to the discussion.

Using blog commenting solely for building links may break your reputation and be seen as a spammer. Add links only when necessary. Links that add value and that really make sense to a relevant material.

Including excessive links in your blog comment, especially do-follow links. can be perceived as spam. Just focus on provinding valuable insights and engaging with the author and other readers instead.

5. Leaving Comments on Non-Relevant Blogs

Target your blog commenting efforts on blogs that are relevant to your niche or industry. Leaving comments on non-relevant blogs may not attract the right audience or generate meaningful engagement.

Your aim is to build relationships, create connections and grow your profile. To also show yourself as an espert in your field and create lasting impression on target audience.

These objectives may not be achieved by leaving comments on irrelevant blogs. Blogs that might have non of your target audience.

6. Not Reading Other Comments

Before leaving a comment, take the time to read the previous comments on the blog post. Much especially when you are not the first to comment.

This helps you avoid repeating points that have already been made and allows you to engage with other commenters in a meaningful way.

7. Not Commenting At The Right Time

Commenting too late may not guarantee good impression. Commenting early on a blog post can increase your visibility and attract more readers to your comment.

Try to be one of the first to comment or at least among the first few commenters on a new post to maximize your visibility and engagement opportunities.

Proven Tips On How to do Blog Commenting the right way For Better Results

To accelerate your blog commenting efforts and achieve faster results, consider implementing the following tips:

Thoughtful questions demonstrate your interest and expertise in the topic, positioning you as a valuable contributor.

“My blog has the h1 for both blog title and posts title in Posts. Please, I need someone to help me on how to remove the h1 from blog title in posts. This is my blog address https://9jalogic.blogspot.com

“There’s nothing wrong with multiple H1 tags in a blog page just as long you have structured your contents and page navigations accordingly.”

How to use h1, h2, h3, heading tags on blog posts for beginners

How to use h1, h2, h3, heading tags on blog posts for beginners

If my blog post title is How to cook fried rice.  Then <h1> which is my Main Heading should be how to cook fried rice. <h2> which are Headings may be (1) types of fried rice,  (2) Ingredients for cooking friend rice,  (3) how to cook fried rice, Etc.

I am very well aware that most Bloggers find it very hard to use heading tags on blog posts much especially the beginners. So I will use this little time to explain how to use h1, h2, h3 heading tags on blog posts for beginners.

What are heading tags on blog posts

In a blog post, heading tags are just like headings in a textbook or a newspaper. Without these tags a blog post will just be like a bunch of texts without guidelines.

Imagine reading this post without headings?

In a textbook there is a title, chapters, topics, subtopic, minor topics and so.

The same way blog post has main heading <h1></h1>, major headings <h2></h2>, subheadings <h3></h3>, minor headings <h4></h4> and so on in a post,

Why are heading tags styles very important on blog posts

Have you ever been to bookshop and buy a book by it’s title? You, don’t know anything about the book but you love the title. That is how important are heading styles in a blog post.

Blog post heading is very important for search 🔍 engine bots to identify you blog post title and as well target keywords.

If you did not specify that your post title is a heading,  search 🔍 engines may read it as a plain text or like an ordinary paragraph in a post. Making it very hard to rank in the SERPs.

Where to use h1, h2, and h3 heading tags on posts

We use headings where necessary. We can’t use them anyhow,  instead, we use them to modify our post content so that people and bots can read then easily.

A longer post can can have Title, headings, subheadings, minor headings. Those are the places you need to add headings.

How to use h1, h2, h3 heading tags on blog posts

In a blog post our <h1> should be our blog post title and it places automatically in your theme’s HTML codes.

Unfortunately, some templates don’t use h1 on blog post title. That is why you need to edit that part of your template. So that it will be h1 for posts title

Read this post on how to make post title to h1 in blogger.

Although in blogger h1 is called “Major Heading” in post editor but you don’t have to use that except where necessary.

If you have taking car of h1 issue in your blog then the remaining heading tags will be added manually on your post 📬 editor.

H2 is called “Heading” in blogger post editor and called “Heading 2” in most of the WordPress post editors.

H3, H4 are called “Sub heading” and “Minor headings” in Blogger while in WordPress are called “Heading 3” and “Heading 4” respectively.

In other to understand how to use these headings rightly I will like to us some illustrations.

    For instance

If my blog post title is How to cook fried rice

Then <h1> which is my Main Heading should be how to cook fried rice.

<h2> which are Headings may be (1) types of fried rice,  (2) Ingredients for cooking friend rice,  (3) how to cook fried rice, Etc.

<h3>  which are subheadings may be, [under Headind (1) types of fried rice]  1. African fried rice, 2. American fried rice, etc.

<h4> under African fried rice may be 1. Nigerian fried rice, 2. South African fried rice, 3. Lyberian fried rice, erc.

I hope you like this post on How to use h1, h2, h3 heading tags on blog posts. Please don’t forget to drop your feedback.

Use Ctrl+F to find the code ‘post-title entry-title’ somewhere before the codes you will see the opening <h3> edit it to <h1> and somewhere after the codes you will see the closing </h3> edit it to </h1>

In this article I will explain how to add post title to h1 in blogger blogapot by default.

Most a times blogger templates comes with post header as h2 or h3 while the blog title remains as h1. It wouldn’t have been a problem at first if it is for blog home page but is not acceptable in blog post pages.

Why you need to add post title to h1 in your blog

Headings are the most important parts of a page. It makes it easier for readers to understant the page.

The same thing goes for search engine crawlers. They try to understant the purpose of a page with the headings. The headings a ranked from h1 the most important then h2 and so on until h6 the lowest.

Making your posts title as h1 makes crawlers or bots to put more emphasis on your title tags which improves your SEO.

But when your posts title in h2 or h3 the bots will give it Less importance and give more emphasis to your blog title instead which makes it hard to rank on SERPs.

So I will show you how to add posts title to h1 in blogger blogspot by default.

      How many h1, h2, h3, h4, h5, h6, tags I need in a post

Since heading tags are very important, there must be the limit on how to use them to avoid over optimization.

H1 which is the most important needs to be one per post or page. This is your post title and there is supposed to be one post title per post. Adding more than one h1 tags is not advisable and can harm your SEO.

H2 which has the second importance can be added more than once in a post according to post length and the number of subheadings. But it should be between 1 to 10 subheadings in long post.

The remaining h3, h4, h5 and h6 can be used as many as possible where necessary under sub headings and minor headings.
